  • Inexpensive

Product Description
The Wheaton™ Brace has been specifically designed for the primary treatment of Metatarsus adductus in infants, and replaces castings and corrective shoes in most cases. It is a new application of the time-tested three-point fixation principle used for the correction of deformities in orthopedics.

1st point of Fixation - bracing beyond the toes corrects the associated hallux varus Fixation Points 3rd point of Fixation - Velcro strap is tightened against the apex of the deformity-- the physician can adjust the position of application, direction, and magnitude of corrective forces, delivering customized correction.
2nd point of Fixation - Hindfoot is securely seated in the brace
Adjustable to fit leg comfortably and snugly Brace Figure

Soft padded inner lining adds to patient comfort and safety
Plantarflexed position prevents hindfoot valgus during correction
Foot portion of brace is set in slightly overcorrected position

Consider the Advantages:

Convenient - Lightweight thermoplastic brace works like a cast but without the disadvantages of a cast. The brace is removable twice a day for cleaning. It is easy to apply, resulting in high patient acceptance and compliance. Avoids emotional trauma associated with castings.

Effective - Clinical study has proven its effectiveness even in the more severe cases. Now being used as the treatment of choice for Metatarsus Adductus in leading medical centers across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Hook and loop fastener straps could be easily removed by parents in case of doubt, thus avoiding frantic phone calls to the physician or needless emergency room visits! (as with cast problems)

Inexpensive - Comes ready-made in six regular sizes that fit most infants up to the age of 48 months. The same brace is used for the whole duration of tereatment (about 3 months). Approved for insurance reimbursement - use HCPCS code L1930.

Related Conditions - The Wheaton Brace is also useful in the treament of Congenital Clubfoot and Tibial Torsion. Call for details.

The Wheaton Brace comes in two series - the MTA series for infants up to 8 months of age, and the TEV-CRB series for infants from birth to 48 months of age. In the MTA series, the ankle is set in 15° of plantarflexion to prevent iatrogenic heel valgus during correction in the younger infants. In the TEV-CRB series, the ankle is set in the 90° neutral position, necessary for the older children who are ambulatory. In the younger infant up to 8 months of age, either the MTA or the TEV series may be used, depending on the preference of the attending physician.
