The
Wheaton Brace comes in two series - the MTA series for
infants up to 8 months of age, and the TEV-CRB series
for infants from birth to 48 months of age. In the MTA
series, the ankle is set in 15° of plantarflexion
to prevent iatrogenic heel valgus during correction
in the younger infants. In the TEV-CRB series, the ankle
is set in the 90° neutral position, necessary for
the older children who are ambulatory. In the younger
infant up to 8 months of age, either the MTA or the
TEV series may be used, depending on the preference
of the attending physician.
